Frame Journey - Hannah’s ANTUR

Introduction

Imagine falling out of love with riding your bike.

The thing you cherish the most.

The thing that is your escape.

The thing you use to help unwind and relax.

Well that’s what happened to Hannah.

Her old bike was too big for her, causing discomfort on rides.

The bike had fallen into neglect and would rattle as she rode along. She had given herself the nickname. ‘The Tin Man’

She’d grown to hate the colour as it didn’t represent who she was nor was it a reflection of her personality.

The bike was her commuter and wasn’t up to the challenge of being taken off road, she constantly felt underbiked and had no confidence.

Hannah was fed up. She needed a change.

Bike Fit

Our mission was to get Hannah back to loving riding her bike.

First things first was getting measured up with a precision bike fit at Cyclopaedia. The bike fit acts as the foundation for the entire build as the personal measurements dictate and define the boundaries of the bike design.

Having been conditioned to riding a bike that was too big for her meant Hannah had been over reaching to the handlebars causing poor posture, increasing the amount of weight on the wrists and restricted breathing meaning endurance was affected.

Adopting an upright riding position by moving the handlebars closer and higher resulted in a relaxed and comfortable posture that opened the airways and improved pedal efficiency and power output.

“This has given me the motivation to get back on the peloton.”

Inspiration

Spending time by the sea is another escape for Hannah.

We always suggest collecting ideas and inspiration from the things that are close to you and the things you love.

Paintwork on her bike has been inspired by holidays spent in Devon & Cornwall with the colour palette derived from the blue/green pearlescent sea.

Build

Not only did the bike need to fit Hannah it needed to be able to tackle her style of riding which is a mixture of quiet road lanes and loaded off-road bikepacking.

The bike needed to be no fuss and no faff.

It had to tackle all terrains and be simple and straightforward to repair with simple tools as Hannah would often find herself in rural and remote locations.

We had been in the process of creating build kits to offer customers so Hannah was the first customer to explore what we were offering. She opted to choose the Core build kit.

GRX 600 mechanical groupset, PRO Discover alloy finishing kit with PuraVelo 650b wheelset paired to Schwalbe Ultrabite Tires.

A solid build kit that didn’t break the bank and Hannah felt she could trust and send out on the trail.

“Chris it’s BEAUTIFUL. I can’t stop looking at it. Rides like an absolute dream! Thank you so so much!”

Complete

Hannah’s build is a testament to what Lord Cycles is all about.

We are not here to build podium bikes or the blingest bikes or premium bikes.

We are here to solve problems.

In Hannah’s case she had fallen out of love with riding.

So it has been a pleasure to serve and to build something to re-ignite the spark.
